Dr. Abigail (Abby) Corrington is an Assistant Professor of Management at the Providence College School of Business. She teaches courses in Organizational Behavior and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, helping students become more confident in their roles as shapers of the organizations to which they belong, and more robustly understand workplace behavior and organizational effectiveness. Her goal is to combine academic rigor with genuine human connection, with students leaving her courses not only with expanded knowledge of management and organizational behavior, but also with greater confidence, self-awareness, empathy, communication skills, and readiness to lead and collaborate effectively in diverse environments.
Dr. Corrington's research focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion, and discrimination in organizations. Her work examines how workplace policies, social norms, and organizational practices shape employee experiences and influence outcomes for individuals from historically marginalized groups. She has published research on topics including age and gender stereotypes, workplace bias, allyship, discrimination, and organizational responses to social justice issues.
Prior to joining Providence College, Dr. Corrington earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Rice University and her B.A. in Psychology, graduating cum laude from Rice University. Her scholarship has appeared in leading academic journals and practitioner-oriented outlets, including the Harvard Business Review, extending the impact of her research beyond academia to organizational leaders and practitioners.
Dr. Corrington's contributions to research and teaching have been recognized through several awards, including the Excellence in Research Award, the Greene Family Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Dean's Award for Inclusive Excellence.
As both a researcher and educator, Dr. Corrington is committed to advancing knowledge about creating workplaces where employees can thrive and organizations can achieve their goals. Her work bridges theory and practice, equipping students and leaders with insights to foster more inclusive, effective, and engaging work environments.
