Personal profile
Biography
A native of Maine, I was born into a family of Quebecois origin and was early interested in French langauge and history. Today, my main academic interest is French history since 1789 with a a particular focus on the religious and social history of France. I also work in French colonial history, women's history, and contemporary French politics. I continue to love both Maine and France and visit as often as possible.
I have served in a variety of administrative roles at the college including five years as chair of the History Department, five years on the Faculty Senate including a stint as Secretary of the Senate, as well as shorter appointments as Assistant Chair of the History Department, Director of the Western Civilization Program, and Interim Associate Director of the Liberal Arts Honors Program.
