Biography

J. T. Scanlan is Professor of English at Providence College.  He co-edits with Jack Lynch The Age of Johnson: A Scholarly Annualpublished by Bucknell University Press.  He has written many articles and essays on the eighteenth century, and on Samuel Johnson in particular.  He is currently working on a book about the relations between law and literature in the eighteenth century.  He's also making final edits to a comic-grim memoir about graduate school at the University of Michigan and Yale, Terminal Degree:  My Quest for a Ph.D.  He also occasionally writes about baseball.
