Biography
Dr. Christine Earley is Interim Dean and Professor of Accountancy for the Providence College (PC) School of Business. She has previously served in various administrative roles in the School of Business and at the College level, including Associate Dean for Faculty and Curriculum, Department Chair of Accountancy, and Associate Provost for Faculty Development. From 2014-2016 she took a professional leave from PC to serve as a faculty fellow in the Global Services Centre of KPMG, LLP, overseeing academic research programs for the firm and serving on the global audit methodology implementation team.
Her research interests are primarily in the areas of auditing and professional ethics, and she utilizes behavioral methods to study auditors’ judgments and on-the-job learning. Her research has been published in The Accounting Review, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Current Issues in Auditing, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Accounting and the Public Interest, Business Horizons, and Issues in Accounting Education. She served as an editor for Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, and as an Associate Editor for Accounting and the Public Interest.
She has instructed the annual American Accounting Association (AAA) Auditing Section Audit Educators’ Bootcamp since 2011. She has served in numerous roles for the American Accounting Association (AAA), recently as President of the AAA Auditing Section. She received her PhD in accounting and Master’s in cognitive psychology from The University of Pittsburgh and her undergraduate degree in accounting from The University of Connecticut. She received her CPA license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (currently inactive status). Before obtaining her PhD, Christine was an auditor in the Hartford, CT office of KPMG.
